Niagara Falls
It was better than I expected. The glitzy, commercial stuff around it just faded away at the magnificence of this naturally occurring sight.
Driving from Toronto, I stopped on the Canadian side for these photos.
There is the Maid of the Mist boat coming up the river.
The crashing Falls threw up a huge mist which came down on we observers when the breeze turned our way. I was glad not to be wearing my 1963 - style coiffure.
A kind Japanese tourist took my photo. I braced myself so I would not tip over the edge!
I had plenty of company at the Falls.
I went upstairs inside to see if the view was any better.
Would you ride over this in a barrel?
The Maid of the Mist provides blue rain coats for everyone.
I spent my last Canadian coins then headed to the USA over the Rainbow Bridge in a long line of cars to the Border Guard.
A young uniformed woman took a long look at my passport and then barked, "When did you get your haircut?" This not being the question anticipated I was puzzled how to answer. I nearly said, "You don't like it?"
On the American side I took this photo of the Canadian skyline from the 'Horseshoe'.
I had fun riding my bike all around Goat Island.
At a nearby shopping center entrance I spotted these flags.
It was fine to see Old Glory fly again.

Mom, Thanks for emailing the photos from Niagara. Amazing. I hope to go there someday. I couldn't stop thinking about Superman! You are brave to have gone into Canada on your own. Amazing. I love seeing a picture of you. xo
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud at the border crossing story. I wonder if the guard would have been as equally thrown by a comment like that as you were by her question? Probably not--their niceness and senses of humor have all been brainwashed out of them.
