Quebec City

August 7, 2013

Once again I am in Canada.

In Quebec the show piece hotel of Quebec City, Le Chateau Frontenac, is a National Historic Site.

Is it really the most photographed hotel in the world? So says Wikipedia. It was formerly the residence of the British colonial governors of Canada.

This photo is taken from the Lower City, the location of the bike trail.

A very nice French-speaking person took my photo riding around on my bike.

That is the St. Lawrence River behind me.

Here comes the ferry up theRiver with a lot of passengers.

The well-marked bike trails join parks about two to three kilometers apart. The trails and landscape are kept neat & clean - a very impressive urban biking experience.

Leaving the trail to cross over a bridge.

The Frontenac hovers over the skyline with the busy lower town in the foreground.

Living history figures act their 18th century roles.

There is the priest coming up the hill.

I think I'll have a plaque made like this for my neighborhood.

Here is the funicular track for riding up to the hotel but you may need to wait in line.

The park for bicyclists to stop and visit bistros, art galleries and restaurants on Rue du Petit-Champlain.

The gardens remind me of Versailles, France.

  1. Do you really have to ride that tram to get to the hotel? When I saw the picture of the hotel for the first time my jaw fell to the floor! That thing is out of a fairy tale. Interesting too, how it looms over the town like a castle.
