More art in Ocean Springs, Mississippi -
Shearwater Pottery was founded in 1928 by Peter Anderson with the support of his parents (Walter and Annette Anderson). From the 1920s through the present day, Shearwater Pottery has produced art pottery. The family runs the place. Pat, Deannie and I enjoyed the peaceful and friendly atmosphere here and we learned from family members about the process of making pottery.
A few pieces not for sale.
I love the designs on this vase.
You might be surprised like I was to see this cool art in McDonalds in town.
We signed up for a one hour drive around this nearby Wildlife Refuge. Nine of us were in a van driven by a "Birder" who volunteers here. These Sandhill Cranes don't migrate and became an endangered species. There were about 35 remaining here in the 1970s when the Preserve began. Now there are about 135.
This painting inside the Visitor's Center shows the appearance of the Sand Hill Cranes.
Here we are driving through the Preserve. As part of the educational program, they provide us with binoculars.
No photos of a bird sighting?? Did you end up seeing one?
