The Carter Center

March 7, 2013

Atlanta, Georgia

Have a look at www.cartercenter.org if you want to see what goes on at this amazing place.
The Carter Center works to advance human rights and alleviate human suffering. The Atlanta-based center has helped to improve the quality of life for people in over 70 countries.

The Carter Center is guided by five principles:

1. Does not duplicate the effective efforts of others.
2. Emphasizes action and results. Based on careful research and analysis, it is prepared to take timely action on important and pressing issues.
3. Acts as a neutral party.
4. Addresses difficult problems and recognizes the possibility of failure as an acceptable risk.
5. To help people with their rights.

After becoming acquainted with his accomplishments, I think Jimmy Carter deserves this award!

The Presidential Library re-creates the Oval Office.

Wonderful exhibits throughout the Presidential Library and Carter Center

Jimmy and Rosalynn's wedding day attire

Jimmy Carter, the farm boy, and the high chair that served him and his siblings.

A fascinating exhibit describing the day-to-day life of his Presidency

Jimmy Carter is a busy man, but not too busy to teach Sunday School when he is at home in Plains.

Don't you think I should be sitting behind the desk??

  1. If you were sitting behind the desk, what would your little sign say? Carter's already laid claim to "The Buck Stops Here." I LOVE the Shining Light Award! I think we should think of people in our every day lives and award them with the Shining Light Award each time we are enlightened or each time our day is improved by the light of another.

  2. Your fondness for President Carter really comes through in this post. And how neat it is that you and Heather got to see him speak all those years ago.
